From Rags to Rich – The rise of Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma has reached the point where he no longer requires an introduction.

Born on April 2, 1981, in Amritsar, Punjab, he is renowned as Mumma’s boy.

He worked at a PCO booth during his 10th grade to supplement his allowances.

It was discovered that his father, a police chief constable, has been afflicted with final stage cancer.

He made a living doing ‘jagratas’ and worked at a textile mill to help his father with his treatment.

After his father’s death, a journey began that many people thought was impossible.

When he first auditioned for the ‘Laughter Challenge,’ he was rejected, but he went on to win the competition in 2007.

His sister’s wedding was planned around the same time.

But the family didn’t have enough money to buy the engagement ring.

Kapil went backstage after winning Laughter Challenge to phone his sister and tell her that she could now go buy the ring with his prize money.

Kapil went on to win ‘Comedy Circus’ for six seasons in a row.

Kapil went on to start his own production company, ‘K9 Productions.

Kapil’s fame skyrocketed as a result of the show, and he became a household celebrity.

“I enjoyed doing standup, sketch comedy, costume comedy. So I planned to bring together all the elements I am good at, put them in one show,” Kapil said.
